We Say Goodbye to Georgina Kincaid
In Georgina Kincaid, succubus and she-demon, #1 New York Times bestselling author Richelle Mead has created one of her most enticing characters. But with a shot at love, and maybe even redemption, is the ultimate seductress finally going soft? Like hell she is. . .
Georgina Kincaid has had an eternity to figure out the opposite sex, but sometimes they still surprise her. Take Seth Mortensen. The man has risked his soul to become Georgina’s boyfriend. Still, with Lucifer for a boss, Georgina can’t just hang up her killer heels and settle down to domestic bliss. In fact, she’s being forced to transfer operations. . .to Las Vegas.
The City of Sin is a dream gig for a succubus, but Georgina’s allies are suspicious. Why are the powers-that-be so eager to get her away from Seattle—and from Seth? Georgina is one of Hell’s most valuable assets, but if there’s any way out of the succubus business she plans to take it—no matter how much roadkill she leaves behind. She just hopes the casualties won’t include the one man she’s risking everything for. . .

Release Date: 7 September 2011
Risa Jones is as extraordinary as her heritage. Born from a lab-enhanced clone mother and an Aedh father, she can not only talk to the souls of the dying and the dead, but she can see the reapers and walk the gray fields that divide this world from the next.
They are skill she rarely uses, however, preferring to concentrate on the business she shares with her two best friends. But when her mother asks her to help the parents of a little girl locked in a coma, she reluctantly agrees. What she discovers scares the hell out of her. Because the little girl’s soul no longer resides in her body, and it wasn’t death and the reapers that took her.
Someone had ripped her soul from her flesh.
As it turns out, a creature consuming the souls of the innocent–and not so innocent–is the least of her problems.
Because someone wants to rip open the gates that divided hell from earth, and Risa is a key component in their plans.
And the only person standing between her and disaster is a reaper who isn’t exactly on her side.

The author has posted a preview of Chapter 1. In her post called “The Story Behind” she states, “I don’t know if any writer can truly explain where their ideas come from. For me, books are triggered by lots of things. By a mood or an image or by thinking about something I’ve read (a myth, a phase, a story). But some books just arrive unannounced.
Shadow Kin is one of those books. I knew I needed another book idea but was working on something else at the time. But there I was, lying in bed one night, drifting off to sleep when a voice in my head said “Revenge is silent.” At which I kind of half-woke up, thought “hmm, random writer thought” and rolled over, fully prepared to go back to sleep. But the voice was having none of that. “Revenge is silent”, she said again (she was a she now) and gave me a glimpse of her standing outside a door, getting ready to kill someone. That woke me up. And the brain started to whirl, wondering why revenge was silent, who this gal was and who was she going to kill. That was pretty much a clear signal that this wasn’t a random sleepy writer thought, and that I needed to get up and haul my butt to the computer and start writing.
Which I did. Got up, wrote about twelve pages in an hour then staggered back to bed. At first I thought I was writing an urban fantasy. But then, I realised they weren’t wearing modern clothes and when the first gun appeared it was an old fashioned, wooden handled, beautifully ornamented pistol. Things only got weirder from there. I believe I told my agent something like “I’m writing this weird book with mages, assassins, vampires, Fae, secrets and oh yeah, kind of quasi Victorian level culture.” She wisely said nothing discouraging and let me carry on. And thus Shadow Kin was born…”
