ZAM: Necromancy and Raising the Dead
Shamlin’ Dave here again. Sorry about my faux pas yesterday. Taking a bite out of that nice young man was inexcusable. I don’t hate all humans, some of you are okay. I just get so angry sometimes and unfortunately for him rage makes what’s left of stomach, rumble. No matter, he’s all right. Mostly. Leans a bit to the left now though. Had trouble climbing out of his shallow grave what with the chunk I took out of his juicy neck*, his head lists to the side. Poor thing’s stumbling around in circles. At least he was turned. Better that than raised, I say. Necromancers, horrible creatures.
Don’t know what they are? They communicate with the dead but for some, talking to our ghosts ain’t good enough…Sorry, sorry. Musn’t get overexcited again. It’s not good for the wellbeing of the living but you can read about them and their distasteful practices in the following books:
Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake series #1) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Shamblin’ Dave says: She fought for our undead rights. This I like her for. The animal sacrifices and the zombie raising -not so much.
Magic Bites (Kate Daniels series #1) by Ilona Andrews
Shamlin’ Dave says: I agree with Ghastek, Kate has “no respect for the undead”. None. At. All.
Gil’s All Fright Diner by A. Lee Martinez
Shamblin’ Dave says: Not too many zombie animals around, except for those crazies who love their pets so much they can’t let them stay dead. Pretty sure some would’ve preferred to stay that way.
The Summoning (Darkest Powers series #1) by Kelley Armstrong
Shamblin’ Dave says: This Chloe girl, she’s adorable. She actually prefers talking to ghosts than raising our corpses. I’m adding her to my Christmas list. To buy presents for, not to eat -I know that’s what you were thinking.
That’s all from me for now. ‘Til next time folks.
*(Necks aren’t the exclusive domain of vampires, you know. Zombies like neck too. All that blood –it’s like BBQ sauce, gives the meat that certain je ne sais quoi. Tastes delightful.)
